On My Mind Monday 13/ 30 days of Thanks Challenge

I would like everyone to join in this challenge. It's very simple really. Take a moment before your post, to tell something you are grateful for, every time for 30 days.
Today I am grateful for my husbands job. What comfort it brings me, to know that he is employed, and he makes enough to cover our needs.

For my On My Mind Monday, I found a passage from Dickens's "Life of Our Lord"
Remember!- It is Christianity TO DO GOOD always- even to those who do evil to us, it is Christianity to love our neighbor as our self, and to do good to all men as we would have them do to us. It is Christianity to be gentle, merciful, and forgiving, and to keep those qualities quiet in our own hearts, and never make a boast of them, or of our prayers or of our love of God, but always show that we love Him by humbly trying to do right in everything. If we do this and remember the life and lessons of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and try to rest upon them, we may confidently hope that God will forgive our sins and mistakes, and enable us to live and die in peace."
So why this passage?
My On my Mind Mondays are usually what my Mind has been focused on in the past week. Or in this case, years. I have resolved some things I have been focused on, and this was the answer to how to do those things. How can we expect to be pardoned of our transgressing towards other, if we are not willing to turn the other cheek ourselves. I have struggled with that. Does that mean forgive and forget? is that possible? I do know that we don't forget our sins, so that we are able to remember what we don't want to do. And how bad it felt. Is it possible to for get others transgressions towards us? Or is it just our job to forgive?
The old adage, "don't get mad, just get even" is probably the most counter productive idea out there. Could you imagine a society full of compassion, forgiveness and mercy? What a extraordinary place this would be.
Let's try harder this week, to let things roll off our packs, take things with a grain of salt. Let's forgive. I have this card on my freezer, it is a quote by President Howard W. Hunter. It was given to husband on New Years about 5 years ago. It says "this year.... mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in thought and deed. Keep a promise. forgo a grudge. Forgive your enemy. Apologise. Try to understand. examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take Pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth, Speak your love, then speak it again.

What a wonderful challenge. I'm on it. I've read that quote on your fridge the numerous times i've been there and I've always been meaning to ask you if I could copy it. I love inspirational quotes because there is at least one person out there who can relate and that is all it takes.
