First my "I'm grateful for" moment.I am grateful for prayer. How comforting it is to know, that we are never alone. That we have the guidance of a Heavenly Father, that has a vested interest in who we are, and what we become. Just like we have a desire to see our kids do the right thing, and become someone who feels compassion and empathy and does good to others. Our Heavenly Father wants the same for us. And the means to get to that place, is through asking.
GBH said "The problems we face in our individual lives, in our families, and in our nation are greater than any of us can solve with our own wisdom. They are problems for which we need inspiration and spiritual guidance." In light of the current economic situation, is their any doubt that this statement is true. I hope these people that run this country know this. I pray that the leaders of this country know this. We would most definitely would be in a great place, if everyone made an effort to get on their knees, and asked for guidance, and what He would have us do.
And, for my DS tidbit for the day.....
Did you know there are 3 different types of DS?
Trisomy 21. Which is what 4 of 5 has, is the most common. It makes up 92 % of Down Syndrome .
Then you have Mosaic DS, which makeup 3-4%. Mosaic is really interesting to me. These kids generally have a higher IQ than kids with T21. And some times don't have the typical look of a child with DS.
And last is translocation DS. This one is hereditary. Apparently, the chances of the parents having another child with a translocation, depends on which parent is a carrier of the gene. Although, it can occur, spontaneously.
If you want to read about any of these, I got info from this web site http://www.ds-health.com/benke.htm.
Have a great day!

Yea! Let's hear it for Robertsonian translocation between chromosomes 21 and 21! Lily is a rare bird indeed, usually translocation happens between 21 and 17. Not my girl! Her birth mom has two typical developed children now so she wasn't a carrier and either was the dad as he had other children running around.
Very cool! I've loved reading your 'gratitude journal'...really makes me think! That little 4 of 5 is such a sweetie!
I would LOVE some pears! (We couldn't get them from our usual place this year, so thought I was out of luck!) We'd love to come pick 'em for you! E-mail me and let me know particulars! stampswithstyle@yahoo.com
