This year, we decided to do something different than flags. We have done flags for 2 years, and it works, but the girls don't enjoy it, the leaders, have to get up on one of the only days off they have, to get the girls out of bed to do flags, and half the girls don't do flags. So this year, we are doing an auction.
I have made a few phone calls, and have gotten a pretty good response. I thought I was way too excited, and no one else would care that much about it. But so far, the response has been pretty good. I have people donating cakes (which I hope will make up the majority of the auction) blankets, toys, car seat covers, home made thank you cards, rolls, and jams. The girls will also donate baby sitting, dog walking, and anything they have made, or can do. I hope to get the Elders and HP's and YW to donate items also.
If any of you in the ward have anything you would also like to donate, anything would be appreciated.
I'm so excited! my sister in law has done this for the past 3 years, and she told me it took a year for people to see it in action and get excited, and now it's one of the wards favorite things. That may be the case here too, but I hope people see this for the what it is, and get as excited as I am about it! I think it will be so much fun.
If any of you have done this before, let me know what worked , didn't work....
I'm still trying to decide if we should do a silent auction, but I'm leaning toward silent for the non food items, and seeing if the MC will get people excited about the cakes and things.
And don't worry...... The YM will still do the flags.

Okay, this has nothing to do with the current post, but I was talking to Bri the other day about one of your posts (I think it was the Sienna one) and wondering to myself and to him, why you put that it will be good for all six of your kids. I just didn't get it... how do you mess up on the number of kids that you have?? Then, just like two days ago, it occurred to me that you may be announcing something... and now I just read your post about gender... Hmm... Okay, are you announcing something????
Hey! So, I looked back at the comments after mine on the Sienna post... and I can't believe I didn't get it earlier!! Congratulations! I am so excited for you. Just two days ago Bri and I were trying to count your kids (3 or 4 times) thinking we had missed someone... too funny.
