So this weeks on my mind Monday, is due to a conversation i had with some one at church yesterday.
I was talking to GM who just got the nursery calling, and seemed very unexcited about it. Nursery will grow on her, i've seen it happen, and i've had it happen, pretty much as soon as you're set apart. So, i mentioned that i would trade her in a heart beat. An eavesdropper said, "so, are you done being YW pres?" and i said, "no, i'm good, although it was rough for a few months after having 5 of 5, and not having DH around because of his calling." So she said, " I don't know why they put both husband and wife in important callings. That seems unfair, especially since there are so many of us that have unimportant callings" Now, she probably didn't mean it the way i took it, but it got me thinking.... What qualifies as an important calling. would it be Bishop? RS Pres? a councilor in an auxiliary? Oh, if those are big? What about a stake calling? Then you know you've made it.... What would be the most important calling? What is the most important thing that we can do to make sure this church moves forward? I think raising a righteous generation should be our #1 priority...... How do we do that? I think that we ought to give more credit to our primary teacher, yw advisers, and Sunday school teachers, put our "good people" In these callings and make it known how important their job is. Do you know who the Primary Pres. in your ward is? Do you know who you kids Primary teachers are? Have you ever said thank you to them. I know i have not been as good as i need to be about this, i've been pretty wrapped up in my job on Sundays. But i will be better at making sure that the YW councilors and my kids teachers know that i am so grateful for what they do. It does take a ward to raise a family, and i want the best people to help me do that. I want to be one of those best people, so other parents will be okay with me helping their kids. We all have important jobs, ward mission leaders, activities days leader, compassionate service coordinator, enrichment leader, CTR teacher, nursery leader, CAMP DIRECTOR,Bee Hive President, HP group leader, 1st councilor in the EQ. If everyone thought of their callings as more important that anything else in the church, we would have the Best ward ever!

I totally agree. I have been in a ward where I didn't receive a calling for about months. When I finally got one I didn't care what it was, I just wanted to serve.
