Not Fot The Faint of Heart

We like to try new things at our house. How else would we have ever discovered steamed soy beans. Yum. We eat Brussels sprouts, beets, collard greens, and even tofu. So we were having left over night last night which consisted of fish, calamari, salad, and potatoes. The kids wanted to see what the inside of calamari looked like, I though "knowing" that they were eating squid would turn them off. That's why they bread and fry the stuff. But, no, it just encouraged them. "I'm eating Squidward"!
1 of 6 ate it "it tastes like chicken"
- um yeah, rubber chicken. I wonder if she would even like good calamari.
4 of 6 ate it.
And 2 of 6 played with it. (the first picture started out down here.... I don't know what happened.) Then ate it, then insisted I let him take it to school in a bag. Alright.

This is a broccoli cheese souffle. Here's the recipe.
Heat 2 TBS add 2 TBS flour and 1/2 tsp salt. add 1/2 cup milk to make a rue. Remove from heat. Mix in 1/4 cup Parmesan and 1/4 cup Swiss and stir until smooth.
Beat 4 yolks until lemon color add 2 cups cooked broccoli ( I steam fresh broccoli, but you can use frozen) add to cheese and flour.
Beat 4 eggs whites until they are stiff peaks. fold in to yolks and pour into an ungreased souffle dish. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes until cooked thoroughly.
I love puzzles,. My kids have learned from years of my puzzle doing, not to touch. 5 of 6 struggles when I first bring the puzzle out. But by the time it's been out for 2-3 days, she looses interest.

On My Mind Monday

I have been thinking a lot about babies lately. Having more babies, being done having babies, not wanting anymore babies, wanting a few more babies, well many just one more baby, other people having babies, being jealous they are still able to have more babies. Not just physically able, but because they dont have 6 already, they still have the 'room' for more babies. And sometime being happy we are not having more, sometimes wanting another one so bad, it hurts.

It is truly turmoil. Why does this still consume me. When I was expecting 6 of 6, I was so done. I knew it. She was born, and I instantly felt I wanted another. I chalked it up to hormones. almost 6 months later, I still feel like 'something' is missing. I count heads when we are out and panic because it seems off.
Trent says no woman feels like they are done. But I have heard it does happen. Why can't I have that, and do I really want that. I don't want to be done being pregnant. I want to have more deliveries. I want to have more newborn clothes. I want to rock my new baby to sleep. I want to watch them roll over for the first time.
It is almost mean to send me this sweet spirit for # 6. How was I supposed to not want anymore after this. If she would have had 5 of 6's disposition, I could see myself having many mental health days. If any of you have met #5 and 6, you would know what I mean.
I hope the dust settles. I hope I will feel a definite answer one way or the other. I am so looking forward to the day when they are all in school. All potty trained. Getting married, going on missions, dating. (not in that order...) But am I ready for that now?

Glass is Totally Half Full

Today was a good day. To start off.... THE KIDS WENT BACK TO SCHOOL! Normally, I have found off track rather pleasant. No one has to get out of bed. No one has to get to school... This off track, we'd get up, eat, I'd give the older 3 a riddle to figure out (to keep their brains nice and ply able) They'd do a chore, feed their animals, we would go to the church and exercise, then the neighbor would come over and they would start on their pool project (I have always wanted a pool). It was nice. 4 of 5 had her tonsils out, and bounced back in 4 days. They were all really good. Until about day 20. I think they remembered that they enjoy a little argument here and there. So they made up for lost time.
I was kind of dreading the Monday missing assignment sheet from 1 of 5's teacher. So when it showed up, I held my breath, and thumbed through it....... And...... A A B A C (up from an F) A. What? What happened. I have never been so happy to see her grades before. I knew she could do it. I told her that if she can keep those grades, and bring the C to a B, she could stay on D track next year.
We have also taken on D & C. In all my years, I have never read D&C all the way through. I love to hear 3 of 5 read, he is really getting good at it. And I know it is helping the other 2.
AND PEAS! It is time for PEAS. My plan.... this weekend. It has been warm enough this month that the ground should be nice and soft. I'm just going to put them right in the garden and pull them out when it's time to plant the squash. Can you believe it.... its time to start thinking about the garden. I haven't even gotten to go sledding more than once.
So all in all. It's good.

Can We Just Stop

It not fair. Could you please just slow down a little. I don't want you growing up so fast.
I took my first daughter to the maturation program on Thursday. She's 9. Well, 10 in June. It just seems like that is way too young to be talking about change. I want her to stay the same. I don't want her to have to deal with any of the hard stuff. Like boys, mean girls, hard classes, felling yucky, having an off day. You know all that puberty stuff. I know if will happen, and growing up is a good thing. But, not yet.
I am how ever, ready for back on track. They were so good, the whole track break. Well, until Thursday. They have fought ever since. Oh well, it can't be perfect all the time.
I loved this picture of these 2 kids. 2 of 6 and 6 of 6. I am amazed at how alike these 2 kids look.

Stats

This is for my family mostly... so feel free to skip ahead.
We had 5 of 6's 2 year appt today and 6 of 6's 4 month. 6 of 6 is 5 months, but there is no need to haul them in anymore than necessary. And, we have been in a lot this winter.
SO, 5 of 6...
12% in weight, weighing in at a whopping 23.4 lbs.
19% in height at 32 inches

And 6 of 6 is
21% in weight at 13 lbs 11 oz
71% in length at 25. 75 inches.
This measurement seems off because she seems so thick to me. She is built like 2 of 6 was. The nurse commented on how much 5 and 6 looked a like. I am always amazed when people see things in my kids that I don't notice.
