Incomplete

SO after looking over the post from yesterday, I noticed, only half of what I posted, actually posted. So what I was saying, was it was nice to not have to worry about how much time the baby was getting under lights. After last night, however, I have learned the down side to not having the lights. She was used to them. So, she was restless last night. SHe only slept more than and hr if she was sleeping on me. The end result, a tired me, and a sore neck. Nothing a little Ibuprofen didn't take care of, but it didn't touch the tired. I did get the swing out, and she seems to like that. We'll see how she does tonight. I really don;t mind getting up with her in the middle of the night. After 5 kids, you don't have the 1 on 1 time with the baby, unless you get up with them at 1, 3 5 and 7. Before the other kids are up. I can usually keep this up for about 6 weeks. So, my husband loves ties. I mean, really really loves ties. He gets at least 1, every DI trip. My girls have discovered a few things lately, while I feed the baby. One of which, is his tie collection. I knew they were up to something, it was quiet. But you can't do anything with a baby attached. This is what I found. Yesterday, it was 5 of 6's clothes strewn all over her bed room. Can't they just color. Not on the walls? Or play with blocks, and not throw them. Or read books, and not fight over the same book. I can totally manage 5 and 4 of 6, when they are single. But you put them together, and it's a whole different story. I'm hoping to get a better routine down in the next 2 weeks or so. I NEED routine.

11.7

We are done! Her biliruben was down to 11.7 today, she was back up to birth weight (a 10 oz gain in 2 days) SO I called homecare, to come get their stinkin lights. AND I am going to get the bassenette and swing out for her. It will be so nice, to just hold her. And not have to worry

Perfection

This picture has nothing to do with this post, but this is what Trent brought home Wednesday, from YM. It's called a Jerusalem Cricket. Never seen one of these before, apparently we have a lot of them here? I'm sitting here with a not quite sleeping baby, kids are fed, I'm up, baby gave me a 4 hr stretch last night, and I actually feel good. I am contemplating going to church. Do I dare? 6 kids? The thought scares me. But really, why not. Okay, I have a list of why nots. #1 on that list 4 of 6, #2 on the list 5 of 6. I guess I should put 6 of 6 on that list to, but that is where the title comes from. She has been the easiest baby. Almost perfect as far as babies go. No reflux (I have had 2 with sever reflux, 2 with mild), I can even eat chocolate (never been able to do that with any of them)..... No colic. ( I won't name names, 5 of 6) She just eats and sleeps. Besides the stupid bili lights, which are working..... she has been perfect. Speaking of lights. Her biliruben peaked on day 8, then started coming down. But very slowly. Like slow enough the ped wants to do a full panel on her, I'm sure to see if her red blood cells are damaged. More pokes. But, I'm feeling confident about her bili levels, she almost looks pink. Still has the yellow hue, but more pink. The dr. mentioned wanting me to supplement, because she took off an oz (after putting on 3, in 2 days) But, I'm can't do it. I hate formula, and bottles, and she is not a terrific nurser, so I am not going to jeopardize what we have so far. So unless, she still dropping on Monday, I am not going to. Yes, we get to go back in for more test and heel pokes. I wish we could wait until Thursday, when we have to go PKU anyway. Her poor heels look like hamburger, and I know it hurts, she starts crying as soon as they wipe her heel with the cold alcohol swab.

Day 6

We are now at day 6. Some moments feel like I've had her for a day, some moments I feel like she's 6 months. It's been hard to have her on the bili lights, with no end in sight. We took her in a day 5, thinking she looked much less yellow, only to find out her levels went up. So when I look at her today, and think, she's toning down, I don't get my hope up. Maybe it's just me, getting used to the yellow. We will take her in tomorrow, and hope for numbers holding at 17, or getting smaller. I would love to get rid of the blue glow in my room, and be able to just hold her. Or put her in the swing after I'm done holding her, instead of a humming blue bed. She dropped down to 7 lbs 3 oz at her 4 day check, but since then has decided that she is getting the hang of this eating thing, and has become quite fond of it. I wish that, like with typical jaundice, that meant she was on the mend. Today was also 4 of 5's first day of preschool. It was frustrating because I called the busing service, because I hadn't heard from them and they call the day before they come to tell you what time they will be there. I never heard from them. So I called this morning and asked if we were on the list, and what time they would be here. She confirmed she was on the list and to be ready about 12"30. I got 4 of 5 out side about 12:15, just to make sure we didn't miss the bus. By 1 pm there was still no bus. So I call the transportation service again and asked where the bus was. The man calls the bus driver and she tells him she's done for the day, and that she tried to call me yesterday. He confirms they have the right number and address, and asks if I have an answering machine. Yes, I do, no there was no message, or number on the caller ID. So I take her to school. Luckily my mom is here, so I didn't have to wake 5 of 5 up, and take a screaming baby. When I get there, the teacher says the bus driver didn't have 4 of 5 because she wasn't out side when she drove by. Um no, you have the right address, and phone number, and no you did not drive by. Anyway, hopefully tomorrow.....

And, here's cute curled up baby.
And cute long baby toes.

It's a girl!

I called my sister Thursday and had her post that I had to stay after a NST. I had the feeling it was going to happen when I walked up the steps to the hospital. Especially since I had a load of laundry in the machine, a sink full of dishes, and didn't have the chance to bathe my kids the night before.
I got all hooked up on the machine for the NST, and although the baby's heart sounded great, my fluid had gone from a 13 to a 9.8 to that week, a 6.5. All signs that my placenta wasn't working as well as it should, and a casualty a GD. The nurse called my dr. my dr. called the hospital admit, and I called Trent and my MIL, and things got rolling. I was admitted and started on penicillin for GBS and at 3:30 after the 2nd does of penicillin was started the resident came and broke my water. The kid looked like he was 20. Contractions start getting painful about 4, and I can feel them in my back. After 2 previous posterior babies, I know what is coming. My dr. suggests an epidural, because she said, it would relax me enough for the baby to turn. I said okay, and they send for the guy. He comes in about 5 and has me sit up, and I feel like I need to start pushing. I get a shot of fentanol and the guy places the epidural, gets a low dose in, because I told him I didn't even really want one. He didn't even hook it up, he just gave me a low dose, because I was feeling like I needed to push anyway. They call my dr. at 5:15 because when I lay back down, and get checked I was at a 9 1/2. So I wait, 5:30, 5:45, 6.... Um, I REALLY need to push. So my nurse went and got the resident, the same 12 yr old that broke my water, and I start pushing. It is absolutely painful, and I don't feel like I am making any progress. HMMM oddly reminiscent of my past delivery. My dr. shows up about 10 minutes later as she's crowning, and delivers Lucy Mae. She's a whopping 8 lbs even. 1 of 5 was 6 12, but the rest of them have been 9+ and 5 of 5 was 9 14 and backwards.
So we officially have 6 of 6. It may take me a little while to get on board with their new names. So forgive me if I slip. After all is said and done, I miss being pregnant, but I absolutely LOVE her. And, don't tell Trent, but I would totally do it again.
She has what is called Coombs positive, so she is at a higher change of a dangerous jaundice level, and is on the lights right now. It's hard to keep her there, because I want to carry her. And she is not my greatest nurser, which is bad, because she needs to eat to clean the biliruben out of her liver. I've already called our neighbor to try too feed her for me, because I don't do bottles. gratefully I have the greatest neighbor ever, (they are probably wondering why they moved in next to us, we've asked them to water our garden feed our animals, and now feed our baby. Man we are needy. ) Luckily she latched on right before I went over. The problem with jaundice is that they also get tired, which is really bad when your milk is coming in, and it's work to eat. It kind of freaks me out, because we had this SAME exact problem with 3 of 5, but we ended back up at Primary's with a jaundice level of 24. 25 is transfusion level. If I could get my milk in, and her have enough energy to eat, we should be fine. I absolutely adore her. And I am happy we had a girl.

I'm having a baby!

I went in today to do my NST and the doctor sent me to labor and delivery. Looks like I'm having this baby today. I am not ready, but ready or not I guess I have to be.

In My Defence

I don't update my facebook that often anymore, either.
I complained once about how facebook was taking over the blog world, and I personally would rather read a blog. I do have a Facebook account, and enjoy the occasional game of Farkle. I used to play Bejeweled, but I lost interest in that. Farkle is quickly going the same way. Farmtown and ville, have got some entertainment value to them, but then I feel like, I have a garden outside, why wouldn't I just go out and water that. It's called guilt. SO, here I am, sitting at the computer, listening to my 2 girls downstairs, trying to get the energy to call them up so we can return movies that are due today, and get some of those door knob covers that kids can't open. 4 of 5 has gotten tall enough to turn on lights. The dark used to keep her out of the food storage/ utility room. But, I have such horrible heartburn, I don't want to do anything. All I had was yogurt. I don't get heartburn, and I really dislike the chalky texture of Tums. This HB thing is new, since Monday. My dr. said the baby's head was engaged, doesn't that mean the baby is low enough to not be keeping my food up that high in my chest? Ouch. I guess it is entirely possible that the baby is just BIG. SO I sit here. And wait. This baby thing, is pretty much all consuming. You wonder if these contractions are the 'real' thing? And as soon as you decide to go in, they stop. Your dr. tells you 'any day now' so you get anxious. Then you end up getting induced 2 weeks later anyway. Oh well. Here's to the waiting game.
