On My Mind Monday

Yesterday was Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
How grateful I am for this little monkey. Of course I would say that about any of my kids. But, She is truly one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me.

Other things on my mind? Health care reform. Why does this just leave an icky feeling in my gut? Is it because I already have great health care.... don't mess with it? Is it because I have never seen the government run anything efficiently? We have dealt with WIC, and SSI in the past. Efficient is the very last word I would use to describe it. Is it because I have heard argument after argument against the government taking over health care, and none for it? SO I'm wondering how on earth this even got this far? I would love to hear your opinion if you like what is in the bill. If this is going to pass, I need to hear something positive......

So far I haven't heard anything good either. I do think we need some kind of "reform". My brother works construction...hard, long hours. But has no health insurance offered to him. His wife works 3 part time jobs (because that is all she can find) she has no health insurance. They don't have any kids and don't plan on having any until they have insurance. They work hard and deserve some insurance. But if they buy it on their own it is over $800 a month. More then their rent :( It is insane. But the plan that they are trying to pass isn't the answer to any of that. It makes me SCARED.... as Shawn puts it "the world is going to end sooner then later. Maybe this is the sooner. Kind of like pulling off a bandaide -just do it fast."

I am with you...I cannot imagine the government running anything efficiently (except maybe the post office --- I am always amazed that my mail makes it to its destination in a timely fashion).
Our family is fortunate to have great healthcare, and know there are people out there that suffer. We keep praying that God's will is being done that all will work out in the end (whenever that may be!)
